In this week’s podcast, I share six tips for better public speaking.
This was a special live online session I did for students from the Faculty of Law and International Relations at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin. I say special because this faculty was dear to my late husband who served there as a lecturer for ten years.
He passed away in March 2021 from a heart attack, so it has been a while since I got in touch with his former students and colleagues.
Here is what I talked about:
- How to look for great content
- Why it’s important to know your audience
- How to structure your message
- Five ways to not be boring
- Why purposeful body language is important
- Ways to practise effectively
You can also listen to this session on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or Google Podcasts.
I had great fun interacting with the students. You will also hear from the moderator, Syahira Jamaludin, as she and I interacted on the points.
Some of the books I mention in this episode include Stephen Covey’s Principle-Centred Leadership, JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Don’t Be Sad by Aaidh ibn Abdullah al-Qarni, The Productive Muslim by Mohammed Faris and How to Talk to Anyone by Leil Lowndes.
These are actual books that got me through some challenging times.
I invite you to listen to this session and tell us if you found the tips helpful in your journey to becoming a better communicator!
Enjoy!
